These resources have been developed to support tutors delivering Essential Skills qualifications. You can access these by clicking on the appropriate button. We've included a guide to level and where appropriate the subject theme.

General resources includes planning and teaching materials that are generic and may be of interest to literacy and/or numeracy tutors.

Make it practical: make it fun!

The real purpose of providing these materials is to help you prepare programmes that make full use of the context of the learners' experiences and aspirations. Thematic programmes based around or linked to learners' life experiences or future employment opportunities makes learning real. When learning is 'real' learners can see its application in their lives and its value. We want to help you make learning practical and make it fun.

Consider these as resources to help you build interesting and engaging programmes and if you create something really effective and exciting let us know. We want to share that with all your colleagues. Your experience counts: we value it and would really like the benefit of it. So tell us what's worked for you and help us share good practice.
